Warranty

What's actually covered when you buy windows from us.

Window warranties are notorious for fine print, exclusions, and "lifetime" promises that turn out to mean less than they appear. Here is the plain-English breakdown of what is covered, by whom, and for how long.

Online

Transparent estimates

Start with clear planning numbers instead of a sales visit.

Local

Kansas City metro

Guidance built for Kansas City homes, climate, and project patterns.

Practical

Professional installation

Move from online estimate to local measurement only when ready.

Three things back your project.

Manufacturer warranty

Covers the physical product: frame, glass, hardware, and components. Terms vary by brand, and "lifetime" usually has limits.

Installation warranty

Covers workmanship items such as sealing, leveling, fastening, trim, and installation details according to the written warranty terms provided with your quote or order documents.

Service coordination

If something goes wrong, contact KC Online Windows first. We help route the issue so you don't have to chase separate companies.

What the brands generally cover.

Sunrise and Joyce

Strong limited lifetime vinyl warranties, with transferable coverage depending on product line and ownership transfer rules.

Marvin and Pella

Premium products with strong glass and component coverage. Transferability differs, so the warranty document matters more than the headline.

MI Windows

Value-tier vinyl with a warranty appropriate to the price point. Strong for cost-conscious projects, but verify current glass and hardware terms.

The fine print everyone should read.

Manufacturer warranties usually do not cover hail damage, impact damage, homeowner modifications, normal wear, cosmetic issues outside stated tolerances, or problems caused by improper installation.

Labor is also separate from product coverage. Many warranties cover replacement parts longer than they cover the labor required to install those parts. That is why installation warranty and service coordination matter.

What to do if something goes wrong.

1

Contact us first.

KC Online Windows should be your first stop. You do not need to decide whether it is a product issue or an installation issue.

2

We diagnose the issue.

A tech may inspect in person, or we may handle it remotely if the cause is clear from photos and project history.

3

We coordinate the right path.

Manufacturer warranty for product defects. Installation warranty for workmanship issues. Insurance for external damage.

Common warranty questions.

What if I sell my home?+

Transferability depends on the brand. Some warranties transfer fully, some transfer once, and some reduce coverage after transfer.

Does the warranty cover a leak after a major storm?+

It depends on the cause. Impact or storm damage is usually insurance. Product seal failure or installation issues may be warranty.

What if I scratch the glass?+

Accidental damage is not covered by manufacturer or installation warranty. Glass replacement may be available as a paid service.

What does lifetime warranty actually mean?+

Usually lifetime of the original purchaser, subject to exclusions and transfer rules. Read the warranty document, not just the brochure headline.

Who do I call for service?+

KC Online Windows. We coordinate the service path so you are not stuck deciding which company should respond.
